Letter 12 June 1865. ALS, 2 pps.

Writes from "Camp of 55 Ills. Vet. Vols near Louisville," to "Respected Brothers." They had previously written him to stay in the service due to his tenure; he replies that he is tired of it and needs to be with his family. Describes his position [Captain of Co. K]; does not need to leave it for a (non-existent) commission to J.C. Davis's staff. Requests information on public sentiment "in town" about commission he was involved in.
